The pictures will come up in a FlashPaper Document. FlashPaper is quick and easy! The pages download in a snap. You just need Flash Player 6 installed on your computer (which most all computers already have). If you don't have it, you can download it here for free, and install it on your computer. To Print : Click on the Name of the craft page to go to the FlashPaper printable craft page. When the FlashPaper document comes up, click on printer icon at the top of the FlashPaper page to print. It will not work to print using File > Print, but only using the printer icon on top of the FlashPaper page. Set number of copies when the printer pop-up appears. Click o.k. Age 2+ Prep: Print and make copies of craft pages. Cut out caterpillar and cocoon. Cut middle line of cocoon. Make sample craft for children to see what craft looks like when finished. Craft: Children color caterpillar and cocoon. Outside of card. Fold sheet of construction paper in half horizontally. Rotate so that right side of card opens. Children glue caterpillar on front of card. Glue words "Open cocoon..." on the top and the words "Open card..." on the bottom. Tape outside edges of cocoon over caterpillar (leaving open the top and bottom between the cross marks). See below for instructions for Inside of card. See below for concepts for craft. |

Age 3+ (Suggestion for young children: Reduce size of craft page to make the craft quicker. Prep: Print and make copies of craft page. Cut various colors of tissue paper into 1 - 2" squares. (Use bigger squares for younger children so the craft goes quicker. Make sample craft for children to see what craft looks like when finished. Craft: (Older children may want to color the page first so you don't have white spots showing through where there is no tissue paper glued). Show children how to roll up the tissue paper squares into a ball, or just scrunch it up a little. (Use two or more pieces of tissue paper together to shorten craft time). Place glue one small section at a time. Press tissue paper balls onto glued area. Age 3+. Note: This craft will take 2 class periods if you don't have a lot of craft time, to allow paint/markers to dry before cutting out butterfly pattern. Prep: Print and make a few copies of Butterfly Craft pattern onto card stock. Make sample craft for children to see what craft looks like when finished. Craft: Children use water-based markers to draw a design on the Color-diffusing paper to cover much of the page. Scribbling is good enough. Help children spray their design with water bottle until colors bleed into each other. Allow to dry. Teacher or assistant lays butterfly pattern over dry design, traces butterfly pattern and cuts butterfly shape out. Save scrap pieces for Collage Cross Craft (above).
