Instructions for Palm Sunday Crafts |
Standing Palm Character Craft |

Card stock or cardboard |
Age 2+ Prep: Print and make copies of Palm Character craft page. Make sure to use the printer icon above the FlashPaper picture. (See directions above). Craft: Children color craft page (but not in between the feet). Teacher or assistants cut out pieces. Cut clits on Palm Character body, feet and hand.Children glue arms to Palm Character body below eyes. Show children how to fold the feet piece on dashed line (so that feet are touching). Open part way and insert in slits on Palm Character body. Insert the rectangle "Honor Jesus..." in the slit on the hand. |

Age 2+ Prep: Print Palm-shaped Booklet craft page. Make copies for children onto card stock (if desired) or regular paper. Make at least one copy onto card stock to use as a pattern. Use pattern to cut more blank sheets to insert in booklet (2-3 or more per booklet). Staple Picture as the cover, staple booklets together. Make sure to use the printer icon above the FlashPaper picture. (See directions above). Craft: Children color craft page to be used as cover. Help children write on the palm branches ways to honor Jesus (Love others, pray, share, be kind, read the bible, praise, etc.). Talk about what it means to honor Jesus while making the craft. |

Donkey Box Craft |

Age 4+ (Adapt for age 2-3 by drawing tail on donkey instead of using yarn). Prep: Print Front-End, Back-End Donkey Box craft page. Make copies for children onto card stock (if desired) or regular paper. Craft: Children color craft pages. Teacher or assistant cuts out box patterns. Palm Braches: Help children write on the palm branches ways to honor Jesus (Love others, pray, share, be kind, read the bible, praise, etc.). Fold: Fold on dashed lines. Glue sides together first, then bottom. Press firmly and allow glue to set before handling further. Place child's palm branches inside box. When set Fold top, inserting notches on back and front pieces into slots on side pieces. See concepts below. |

Donkey / Palm Visor Craft |

Donkey chinese box patterns |
Age 3+ (The tie is a choking hazard.) Prep: Print craft page. Be sure to use the printer icon above the FlashPaper picture. (See directions above). Make copies of craft page onto card stock. Cut stretchy fabric into 12" lengths, 1" wide to use as ties for visors. (For adults cut into 15" lengths). Punch holes on the ends of the visor on the black dots. Use palm branches as patterns to cut many palm branches out of green construction paper. Craft: Children color craft page. Teacher cuts out all pieces. Children glue donkey and palm branches on visor. Insert stretchy fabric strips into holes and tie, measuring length needed while trying on child. Mark length. Tie other end. Cut off extra length. Activity Idea: Children can wear the visors when going on a "praise parade" with noisemakers, children's instruments, homemade drums, singing praise songs to the Lord. |

Donkey Chinese Box Craft |

Age 5+. (Adapt for age 2-4 by taking off the metal handle and gluing box together. Prep: Print and make copies of craft page. Make sure to use the printer icon above the FlashPaper picture. (See directions above). Take metal handles off, and glue sides of boxes together. Use one of the palm branches from the craft page as a pattern to cut lots of palm branch shapes from green construction paper. Craft: Help children fold down the side flaps and front flap. Glue those flaps to inside of box. Leave back blap up. Children color craft page. Help children cut out donkey head and arms. Help children glue head to the back flap (that is straight up), and the arms to the sides of the box. The palm branch that says 'Honor Jesus' is glued onto the front of the Chinese box. Concepts: Help children write on the palm branches ways to honor Jesus (Love others, pray, share, be kind, read the bible, praise, etc.). Talk about what it means to honor Jesus while making the craft. |
